Professional Bio

Anna S. Clayton, MD, is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and director of the department's Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship Program.

She was born in Manila, Philippines and emigrated to the US at age seven where she grew up in New Jersey
and Maryland. She chose to return to the Philippines to attend university, in order to appreciate her roots and experience "the old country." Dr. Clayton finished her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, earning a BS in Psychology. She proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 16 years through the military medical school (USUHS), practicing flight medicine, general dermatology and Mohs, before separating from the U.S. Air Force at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr. Clayton completed her three-year dermatology residency in San Antonio, practiced for three years, and then completed a one year Mohs fellowship at Vanderbilt University. She is a very proud mother to two wonderful daughters and pseudo-mom and mentor to a series of fellows as the Mohs fellowship director.
