Open Faculty Positions

Vanderbilt Dermatology is seeking a highly experienced, dual board-certified Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist to join our high-volume academic dermatology program. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a dynamic academic environment that mirrors the efficiency and clinical volume of a private practice model, while advancing patient care, teaching, and diagnostic excellence. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently interpret a high volume of dermatopathology specimens, including complex inflammatory and neoplastic disorders, within an integrated academic pathology team.
  • Provide expert outpatient dermatology care with opportunities to tailor the clinical focus to areas of interest • Serve as an educator and mentor for dermatology residents.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary initiatives such as tumor board and consultative services.
  • Dermatopathology quality improvement
  • Contribute to leadership in practice optimization and innovation within dermatopathology services. 

Qualifications:

  • M.D. degree with completion of ACGME-accredited dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship.
  • Board certification in Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
  • Minimum of 7 years of independent dermatopathology practice experience, preferably in a high-volume setting.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence in both dermatology and dermatopathology.
  • Strong teaching and mentorship experience in an academic setting
  • Commitment to a collaborative and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Experience in molecular diagnostics 

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience leading or shaping dermatopathology workflows, especially in high-throughput environments.
  • Interest in clinical innovation, education, or outcomes-based research.
  • Experience in molecular diagnostics in dermatopathology
  • Administrative experience in managing teams and instituting change through cross-functional collaboration

The Department of Dermatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center - a National Comprehensive Cancer Network designated academic medical center - is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible dermatologist with clinical expertise in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of pigmented lesions and melanoma.

This is a full-time academic position with responsibilities in patient care, teaching, and scholarly activity. Candidates will join a multidisciplinary team specializing in melanoma and skin cancer, collaborating closely with experts in oncology, surgery, pathology, and basic science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding clinical care focused on the diagnosis and treatment of pigmented lesions, atypical nevi, and melanoma.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary melanoma and high-risk skin cancer clinics.
  • Teach and mentor medical students and residents.
  • Contribute to departmental and institutional service and leadership activities.
  • Pursue academic scholarship
