Monday

Medical Journal Club 
The third Monday evening of the month (alternating months with Surgery Journal Club). Residents and attendings review key articles from the general dermatology literature and surgical dermatology journals.

Tuesday

Pathology Conference Text Review 
Tuesdays from 7 to 8 a.m. includes a review of topic from pathology textbook with glass slides. 

Wednesday

Pathology Conference Unknowns
Wednesday from 7 to 8 a.m. includes a review of unknown glass slides.

Thursday

Grand Rounds Conference 
Lectures Thursdays from 8 to 9 a.m. featuring a rotating schedule including unknowns, visiting speakers, VUMC speakers from other departments, and Morbidity & Mortality conference

Friday

Friday Morning Conference 
7 a.m. to noon. Lectures from attendings (curriculum revolves on a three-year basis to be all-inclusive), and review of Bolognia textbook. JAMA Dermatology journal club is held once monthly to review all articles from the previous month.  

Regional and National Conferences and Meetings  ​​​​​​​

Nashville Dermatology Society 

The Nashville Dermatology Society (NDS) is a robust society of both academic and private practice dermatologists. The NDS generally meets two to three times a year for special events including dinners and presentations from world experts on a variety of dermatologic topics.

A yearly free community skin cancer screening is also organized by the NDS at the VUMC outpatient clinics. 

Tennessee Dermatology Society 

The Tennessee Dermatology society hosts a yearly meeting that rotates between West, Middle, and East Tennessee. Residents are encouraged to submit posters and oral presentations.  

National and regional conferences, American Academy of Dermatology 

The department supports the opportunity for residents to attend professional meetings. Residents are encouraged to present posters and oral presentations.
